Carp have Nutritional Requirements that are needed to survive just the same as any other living creature. They do not have the option to choose what they want to eat for the most part so they feed by instinct on any nutritional requirement that there bodies need at any given time. This means that they will eat the best food source that gives them this dietary requirement. Carp are however opportunistic feeders so they also pick up any tasty treat in between meals too! For a food or bait to be really effective it has to supply part of the carps requirements, be that Energy (Carbohydrates), Protein, Roughage, Vitamins or Minerals. We then want to take a bait one step further and include “feed inducing” and “taste enhancing” ingredients in them to keep the carp wanting to eat it. If we have done it effectively then Carp will keep on searching out that bait. A balanced food source bait is designed to give a carp all their Dietary requirements in one convenient mouthful called a Boilie.
A properly balanced Food Source bait like K-1 BAITS will be effective for practically ever. If you provide a bait that offers all of the above, then you are offering a viable food source bait. It is advisable to feed (chum) as much as possible to give the carp confidence in eating it. So it’s always worth pre-baiting with them and putting in your remaining bait when you pack up. If every time they picked up a food source bait they got hooked then they would learn to leave it.
Now in spite of all this there are times that Hi-Visibility and Hi-Attract baits will work. You consider that you eat a Healthy Meal and you are jam packed full, but someone puts a Bowl of Ice Cream in front of you and you just have to have a munch on it. Or you could be in between Meals and someone offers you a sweet, you accept. That’s how I consider Hi-Attract baits. K-1 BAITS are effective right from the first introduction as they have ingredients added to make them immediately attractive, have taste enhancing ingredients to keep the carp feeding and have the rest of the dietary requirements covered to ensure the fish feed on the baits for the long term and receive the benefit of a balanced food source – perfect !
