How to Bait up at Distance
Spodding is a technique used to bait up or chum the swim from the bank at a greater distance than a catapult or sling shot can send the bait.
A spod or bait rocket is used to achieve a more precise baited area to help concentrate the fish on a more specific area or to spread little patches of bait over a larger area.
Spodding is ideal when you want to put small baits like corn, maize, hemp, or pellets out at a particular range or where you don't want them to be spread over a great distance.
The shape of spod rockets allows them to be cast over 100 yards with ease. Many folks like to mix all different shape, size and weight baits in a spod mix and use the K-1 BAITS method mix as a base.
We use the K-1 BAITS method mix and add flavored pellets with corn to our mix and have had tremendous success.
If you want to put out method mix or groundbait balls it is even easier. We use a Resistance Tackle Method Sling which you simply clip onto your spod rod instead of a spod.
The rod acts like a catapult and has the capability to send these balls out way in excess of 100 yards. The sling itself only goes out a few yards when you cast meaning you can bait up very quickly. We use our Method mix or a cracked corn mix for this method.
