Wild Carp Companies hosted the annual Carp angling tournament in Baldwinsville last week and changed the format by having 3 extra events after the 50 hour enduro tournament.

The 50 hr event was won by K-1 BAITS team of Mihai Aciu & Bogdan Bucur catching >1,500 lbs of carp for a $7,000 payout. The Romanian duo who live in Chicago also took the honors in the 10 hour Total Weight Challenge two days later as well at the Big 4 challenge on the final day. They had a great week and worked hard to grind out the results, congrats guys!

It was a beautiful day out and a friend & I had already decided where we were going to fish. I had just purchased K-1's new Hempseed Boilies and wanted to give them a go at this outing.

We were in the water late due to problems at the first swim but it did not take long before the new bait attracted the first catch of the day with a stunning 24 lber.

My partner has been Carp angling much longer than I have and he had yet to land a 30+ common, keep in mind he has caught multiple 50+ smallmouth buffalo in the past.

Well today was his lucky day, my friend Chris Vines is a new K-1 customer and has been catching on the tutti frutti pop-up boilies and this day was no exception, while we were looking for a good spot to get out of the sun he gets a slow run on one of his rods, I was thinking turtle or perhaps a catfish - LOL, this fish was in no hurry to get away, when he lifted the rod and set the hook it was a battle of wills and this fish wanted nothing to do with coming to the bank, after a lengthy battle my partner was staring at a gorgeous 31-14 lb common, his first 30+ lber ever Woohoo!!

During the day we bounced back and fourth landing fish with K-1 baits and all of mine including a stunner at 27-8 lbs was caught on Hempseed Boilies.

A warm welcome to the 30 plus club goes out to Danny Riggleman in NC who sent us this catch report:

I woke up at 5:30am and headed to the lake. Arriving at 6:20am we were set up and fishing by 6:45am. 30 minutes later I had a nice 21 lb 5oz common on my middle Rod. A few quick pic's and let it go with a smile.

Another 30 minutes later, I had another run on the middle rod; I ran over and started fighting the fish to find out that my line was tangle on something. The fish felt pretty good so I started to empty my pockets out just in case I had to go in for her. As luck would have it, just as I got both shoe's wet, she came loose, Yes! It rolled on top of the water and I was guessing it would weigh around the low 20's but when it hit the spreader block, it was huge! I took a closer look and saw how big it was. I knew then it had to be my new PB but was it over 30lbs? Well the scale's don't lie and it read 31 lb 5oz, Well Happy!! The fish came to K-1 Baits Fruity Peach corn with a hint of Juicy Tutti Fruity as it gets them every time.

August Wells & Mike Wheeler won the 2011 Austin Team Championship fished on Lady Bird Lake in Austin, Texas this past weekend.

The deadly duo landed 23 carp totaling 454.03 lbs (206.45  Kgs) using K-1 Baits Juicy Tutti Frutti Flavored Boilies and Corn.

The first carp they caught was on the first day was a 31+ lb common caught on JTF Boilies and the biggest during the event was 35+lbs.

Mike said: The Tutti Frutti boilies mixed with the JTF flavoring was deadly.

The Austin Team Championship (ATC) was fished from 25 to 26th March 2011 on Lady Bird Lake in Austin Texas.

For Stephen Clark & Ben Fox it was a slow competition as it was for many of the anglers this year due to a early spawn but with hard work and great bait Stephen Clark managed a gorgeous 42 lb Smallmouth Buffalo using K-1 Baits butterscotch maize.

This beast landed the duo the Biggest Buffalo of the tournament and a prize pot of $295 !!

Congratulations guys on a superb fish and a sweet prize pot for your efforts.

Had a great report from Tim "Cool Dad" Gill from his recent exploits in Florida. The "plug of pefection" specialist used K-1's Juicy Tutti Frutti boilies on a hair rig with the "plug" to land over 112 lbs of carp in just under 15 hours of fishing. Now that is some AWESOME HAULING, well done Tim!!

Managed a quick session on my local lake tonight and had a 35 lb 8oz Grass Carp (Amur) off the top.

I used an EZ IN 1, size 10 hook which is just perfect for this type of fishing as they are awesomely strong.
